Step 1 – Download Microsoft Authenticator

To download the Microsoft Authenticator App, access the Google Play store or the App Store on your Android/iPhone device to download.
The icon for Microsoft Authenticator is the following:
Microsoft Authenticator | Penn State Go
Double check that this is the icon of the app you are downloading and that its name is Microsoft Authenticator, sometimes the App Store/Google Play will put an advertisement about the first proper search result. If the app you have downloaded is asking you to pay for its services, it is the wrong app.

Step 2 – Locating Authenticator Setup

It is recommended to do this step on a computer, not your phone, as the process is more straightforward.
Log in to your Point Park account via office.com.
If this is your first time signing into your Point Park account, you will automatically be prompted to set up Microsoft Authenticator and will see a message stating "Keep your account secure". Click Next.

If it is not your first time, you can go to https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info, select "Add sign-in method" and select Microsoft Authenticator from the list. You will then see the "Keep your account secure" message. Click Next.

Step 3 – Set up your account in app

On your computer, you will see a screen stating "Set up your account in the app"

On your phone, open Microsoft Authenticator and, if prompted, select "Allow notifications".  Select the plus sign or "Add an account" and then select "Work or school". Back on your computer, click Next on the "Set up your account in the app" screen.

Step 4 – Scan the QR code

On your computer, you will next see a screen with a QR code.

On your phone, select the "Scan QR code" option and scan the code. If this is successful, you will see your Point Park account as an account present on Microsoft Authenticator.
Back on your computer, click Next on the "Scan QR code" screen.

Step 5 – Perform a test authentication

On your computer screen, you will see the message "Let's try it out" and a two digit code.

On your phone, the Microsoft Authenticator app should pop up a screen saying "Are you trying to sign in?". If it does not, there will instead be a notification asking the same thing. Enter the two digit code from your computer into the "Are you trying to sign in?" prompt and hit Yes. You will then use either your phone's PIN number or FaceID to confirm it is actually you entering the number.
